Day 9: C.S. Lewis Prayer Quote

Reminder to Pray for your relationship prayer request!

Prayer Quote by C.S. Lewis in ‘God in the Dock’ from ‘Scraps’

“Praying for particular things,” said I, “always seems to me like advising God how to run the world. Wouldn’t it be wiser to assume that He knows best?” “On the same principle,” said he, “I suppose you never ask a man next to you to pass the salt, because God knows best whether you ought to have salt or not. And I suppose you never take an umbrella, because God knows best whether you ought to be wet or dry.”  ‘That’s quite different,” I protested. “I don’t see why,” said he. “The odd thing is that He should let us influence the course of events at all. But since He lets us do it in one way I don’t see why He shouldn’t let us do it in the other.”

Day 8: Prayer Quote from Beni Johnson

Quote from Beni Johnson from her book, ‘The Happy Intercessor’

No words necessary…

Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He has mercy on us (Psalm 123:2)

Look at the last part of this verse. They were just keeping their eyes on the Lord. Np words were necessary. Just keeping focused on the Lord until…

Day Six: Prayer Challenge – Brad Jersak Prayer Quote

Reminder to pray for your relationship prayer request!

by Brad Jersak in his book, Can You Hear Me?

“I find it helpful … to think of prayer as a context, a venue or a place where we wait on God’s presence and his voice. It doesn’t get much more vivid then this:
I come to the garden alone,
while the dew is still on the roses,
and the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The son of God discloses.
And He walks with me and He talks with me,
and He tells me I am His own,
and the Joy we share, as we tarry there,
none other has ever known.
He speak, and the sound of his voice
is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
and the melody that he gave to me within my heart is ringing,
And He walks with me and He talk with me,
and He tells me I am His own,
and the Joy we share as we tarry there,
none other has ever known.
C. Austin Miles, 1912

Day 5 of Prayer Challenge: Prayer Poem

Reminder to Pray for your relationship prayer request!

Poem by Ted Loder, found in ‘Guerrillas of Grace’

I Have so Few Ways to Pray

Lord,

I have so few ways to pray,

but you have so many ways to answer.

Keep me alert

to your unpredictable answers,

to your unexplainable surprises.

and by your grace,

make me one of those surprises,

for the sake of the One

who taught us the surprises

of moving mountains,

healing touches,

wondrous stories,

great banquets,

first suppers

broken bread,

crosses,

and resurrections.
